The Naperville Professional Firefighters Local 4302 and The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Fighters Union IAFF Local 2986 would like to commend the City of Naperville City Council, Naperville City staff, Lisle-Woodridge Board of Trustees on the creation of improved service levels at no additional cost to our citizens. The future implementation of a new intergovernmental agreement approved two weeks ago, will provide the citizens' an increase in ambulance protection for both communities.
The citizens of Lisle and Naperville will benefit from this agreement with an increase of ambulance protection approximately 35% of the year. This will decrease ambulance transport response times and increase the amount of transport vehicles in Naperville and Lisle. Transport vehicles are critical to assure ill or injured residents receive the timely care that can sometimes mean the difference between life and death.
Naperville and Lisle Firefighters are proud to be part of such great organizations that put their residents first in these trying economic times. We urge our citizens to thank their city council and Fire District Board of Trustees for their creative and progressive thinking, which will provide even better levels of service to our community without additional cost.
When other communities are reducing service, cutting personnel and transport vehicles, both labor and management have come together to provide an increase in service at no additional costs to our taxpayers. Naperville will now have access to a desperately needed 8th ambulance and Lisle will gain an additional ambulance. This is projected to occur nearly 35% of the year. That truly makes Lisle and Naperville safer communities.
This innovative action will decrease ambulance transport times by allowing critically ill or injured residents to receive time sensitive medical treatment and potentially save lives.
